Strophebodies are performers. They consist of speakers, wires and a microcontroller which generates music based on the algorithms they are programmed with.
Speakers are generally meant to be transparent; heard but without physical presence. hung up high and out of sight in theater, or behind a screen in a cinema. But since so much sound and music is created electronically and without any performative moment they could be credited as the performers.
After making several installations and performances in galleries and museum spaces I grew tired of trying to hide the speakers and decided to allow them their own bodies.
exhibitions:
as part of “pacific bodies” at Galerie am Flutgraben, Berlin, June 2016
as part of “fictional matters” at Centre for Contemporary Art, Glasgow, December 2016
Live solo filmed at Macao, Milan, by URSSS - Mistake television. Visuals by Andrew Quinn (http://andrewquinn.org/).
Sensate, recorded between 2009 and 2014 with prosumer music equipment, exploits the heavy-handed engineering of various hardware and software synthesisers, samplers and sequencers.

“There’s something enigmatic and intangible at work here which defies easy description due to the music’s elemental construction, broaching the unknown with a singular quality. It’s one of the more original, engrossing electronic albums we’ve heard so far this year” (https://boomkat.com/products/sensate)
The Experimental Music Yearbook is a repository for composers, performers, and the public to glean the methods and styles of various artists working in the experimental music tradition. As the modes of experimentation in the arts change from year to year, the Experimental Music Yearbook’s annual issues will build into a comprehensive, and varied, database of experimentation in music/sound.
